Youth of Potchefstroom is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping the youth of Potchefstroom secure job opportunities across South Africa. Our organisation was started after realizing the severe shortage of job opportunities within our town. Potchefstroom simply cannot cater for the number of young people who finish school every year.

To give an estimate
Potchefstroom has around 15 high schools, each with approximately 5 matric classes. That means roughly 75 matric classes per year. With an average of about 30 learners per class, that’s more than 2,200 matriculants finishing school each year. Not all of them get accepted into university, and even among those who do, many struggle because they don’t secure funding. Those who don’t enter tertiary education are left with limited local opportunities, because the job market in Potchefstroom cannot absorb everyone.

We also offer support to anyone wanting to obtain certificates through Alison Online Learning. We have engaged directly with Alison regarding the youth of Potchefstroom, and we were approved for 5,000+ free courses across multiple industries through their FLMS platform. We strongly encourage the youth to make use of these free learning opportunities to improve their skills and employability.

Our long-term goal is to grow the platform so that employers, companies, labour brokers, and recruitment agencies can use our website to find and select employees directly—regardless of the field of work. We want employers to see Youth of Potchefstroom as a reliable community-based source for capable and job-ready individuals.
